पंतनगर कृषि विश्वविद्यालय के कुलपति के कार्यकाल में विस्तार
पंतनगर-: गोविन्द बल्लभ पंत कृषि और प्रौद्योगिक विश्वविद्यालय, पंतनगर के कुलपति प्रोफेसर मनमोहन सिंह चौहान को छह महीने का विस्तार दिया गया है। प्रोफेसर चौहान का छः माह का कार्यकाल 28 फरवरी 2026 को पूर्ण हो रहा है। यह निर्णय विश्वविद्यालय के माननीय कुलाधिपति ले ज गुरमीत सिंह द्वारा लिया गया है। इस विस्तार के साथ प्रोफेसर चौहान 1 मार्च 2026 से अगले छह माह अथवा नियमित कुलपति की नियुक्ति अथवा अग्रिम आदेश तक, जो भी पहले हो, तब तक विश्वविद्यालय के कुलपति के रूप में अपना कार्यभार संभालेंगे। इस कदम से विश्वविद्यालय के शैक्षणिक गतिविधियों के संचालन में निरंतरता सुनिश्चित होगी।
निदेशक संचार डा. जे.पी. जायसवाल ने बताया कि कुलपति प्रोफेसर मनमोहन सिंह चौहान ने अपना प्रथम तीन वर्ष का कार्यकाल 29 अगस्त 2022 से 28 अगस्त 2025 तक अत्यंत सफलतापूर्वक पूर्ण किया और उनको उसके बाद छः माह का विस्तार दिनांक 29 अगस्त 2025 से 28 फरवरी 2026 तक माननीय राज्यपाल उत्तराखण्ड एवं विश्वविद्यालय के कुलाधिपति ले ज गुरमीत सिंह द्वारा दिया गया था। कुलपति के तीन वर्ष छः माह के कार्यकाल में शैक्षणिक शोध, प्रसार की गतिविधियों में चौमुखी विकास हुआ वहीं मूलभूत नयी संरचनाएं बनी एवं पुरानी अवस्थापनाओं का नवीनीकरण भी हुआ। इस अवधि में तीन दीक्षांत समारोह जिसमें की देश के माननीया राष्ट्रपति श्रीमती द्रौपदी मुर्मु का भी आर्शीवाद प्राप्त हुआ। कुल सात किसान मेलों का भी सफल आयोजन हुआ जिससे देश एवं प्रदेश के किसान लाभान्वित हुए। 17वें कृषि विज्ञान सम्मेलन का उनके नेतृत्व में आयोजन बेमिसाल रहा जिसमें कि लगभग तीन हजार लोगों ने प्रतिभाग ही नहीं किया बल्कि नये कीर्तिमान भी स्थापित हुए। विष्वविद्यालय में कई प्रतिष्ठित राष्ट्रीय एवं अंतर्राष्ट्रीय संस्थाओं के साथ एमओयू हस्ताक्षरित किये तथा बड़ी संख्या में पेटेंट दाखिल किये गये। कुलपति के कार्यकाल में ही विष्वविद्यालय को देष के 71 कृषि विष्वविद्यालयों में से सर्वप्रथम क्यूएस वर्ल्ड रैंकिग में स्थान प्राप्त करने का गौरव प्राप्त हुआ और अन्य कई राष्ट्रीय स्तर के सम्मान प्राप्त हुए।
Tenure of Pantnagar Agricultural University Vice-Chancellor Extended
Pantnagar, -:. The tenure of Professor Manmohan Singh Chauhan as the Vice-Chancellor of Govind Ballabh Pant University of Agriculture and Technology, Pantnagar, has been extended by six months. Professor Chauhan’s current six-month term was scheduled to conclude on 28 February 2026. The decision was taken by the Hon’ble Chancellor of the University, Lt Gen Gurmit Singh.
With this extension, Professor Chauhan will continue to serve as Vice-Chancellor from 1 March 2026 for the next six months, or until the appointment of a new Vice-Chancellor, or until further orders—whichever is earlier. This step will ensure continuity in the academic functioning of the University.
Director Communication, Dr. J.P. Jaiswal, informed that Professor Manmohan Singh Chauhan successfully completed his first three-year term from 29 August 2022 to 28 August 2025. Thereafter, he was granted a six-month extension from 29 August 2025 to 28 February 2026 by the Hon’ble Governor of Uttarakhand and Chancellor of the University, Lt Gen Gurmit Singh. During his three-and-a-half-year tenure, significant all-round development was achieved in academics, research, and extension activities. New infrastructure was created and existing facilities were renovated. During this period, three convocation ceremonies were organized, including one graced by the blessings of the Hon’ble President of India, Smt. Droupadi Murmu. A total of seven Farmers’ Fair was successfully organized, benefiting farmers from across the country and the state. The 17th Agricultural Science Congress held under his leadership was remarkable, witnessing participation of nearly 3,000 delegates including farmers and setting new benchmarks.
The University also signed MoUs with several prestigious national and international institutions, and a large number of patents were filed. During his tenure, the University earned the distinction of becoming the first among 71 agricultural universities in the country to secure a place in the QS World Rankings, along with receiving several other national-level honours.
